Brigadeiros
This recipe makes approximately 50 pieces of 10 grams each - 10-15 servings.
Brazilian deliciousness balls with sprinkles 🤎
Chewy, deep chocolate flavor, few ingredients, under 30 minutes of your time?
Do you know Brigadeiros? I didn't, but I'm glad they've come into my life. Brigadeiros are delicious Brazilian chocolate truffles traditionally made from condensed milk, cocoa powder, butter and chocolate sprinkles. I've added dark chocolate for an extra delicious chocolate flavor.
They are SUPER easy and cozy to make, and as the recipe states, I got 50 pieces of about 10 g., and although 50 sounds like a lot, they disappeared in 24 hours in a house with five.
Brigadeiros
Preparation: >30 minutes Cooling time: 2 hours Total: 2 h. 30 minutes
Ingredients
This recipe makes approximately 50 pieces of 10 grams each - 10-15 servings.
1 can of condensed milk (397 g)
90 g dark chocolate
40 g butter
70 g unsweetened cocoa
Sprinkles
Method:
Put all the ingredients in a saucepan. Heat over low heat. Stir.
It took 10 minutes for the mixture to thicken and release the pan, and that I could almost roll the dough with the spatula in the pan.
Place the mixture in a heatproof bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Now you can roll balls and roll them in sprinkles.
I rolled Brigadeiros of about 10 g and got 50 pieces.
Tips and storage:
〰️ You can also coat the Brigadeiros in shredded coconut, chopped nuts, cocoa powder, freeze-dried berries (blended into powder) or whatever you like.
〰️ Replace the dark chocolate with milk chocolate.
〰️ Brigadeiros can typically keep in the fridge for up to 5-7 days when stored in an airtight container. It is important to ensure they are well wrapped or stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent drying out and extend their shelf life.
〰️ Brigadeiros can be eaten straight from the fridge for a firmer texture, but are also delicious at room temperature.
〰️ They can also be frozen for 1-2 months. Freeze them in a single layer first so they don't melt together. Once frozen, you can put them in a container in several layers/on top of each other. Take them out about 30 min. before serving. Be aware that some types of sprinkles do not freeze well and may become watery/lose color and flavor due to the condensation that will naturally form when your Brigadeiros thaw.
〰️ For convenience, I would pour the brigadeiro mixture into a mold lined with baking paper, sprinkle sprinkles on the warm mixture, and when the mixture is cold and has set, I would cut them into small squares instead of rolling them... it's probably blasphemy, but I could do that if I felt lazy or just wanted to serve square treats.
